FC4 Mplayer installation problem

Preferences -> Audio

Choose alsa or esd as sound driver resp. aRts when using kde and the 
problem should be gone.

Note:
Both alsa and esd sound terribly on my box with mplayer, so I prefer 
xine-totem as default video player. But it might be better on your hardware.
