FC3 unusable on x86_64smp hardware

The 2.6.10 kernel has been replaced for security reasons:
https://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-announce-list/2005-April/msg00021.html

The 2.6.11 kernel has "bad pmd" errors on x86_64 hardware that make it
fairly unstable and unsuitable for regular use:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=badpmd

The 2.6.12 kernel apparently doesn't boot on SMP hardware, and it's not
clear that the problem is even fully understood, so I don't expect a fix
in the near future:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=163407

This is getting somewhat frustrating.... Do the developers need more
information from us? What can we (sysadmins who are plagued by these
problems) do to help?

Anyone old enough to remember when even-numbered kernels were stable,
and patches were backported?
