Can't install 2.6.9 kernel with yum?

Yum can remove kernel.i686 0:2.6.10-1.766_FC3 with no problems.

But when I try to remove kernel-2.6.10-1.770_FC3 I get:

Finished Transaction Test
Transaction Check Error:   package hal-0.4.7-1.FC3 (which is newer
than hal-0.4.0-10) is already installed

Then I try to remove hal-0.4.7-1.FC3 first and:

# yum remove hal-0.4.7-1.FC3
...
  Update: hal.i386 0:0.4.0-10
Is this ok [y/N]: y
Downloading Packages:
Running Transaction Test
Finished Transaction Test
Transaction Check Error:   package hal-0.4.7-1.FC3 (which is newer
than hal-0.4.0-10) is already installed
