FC3 fails to install on BestTech Apache C

FC3 fails to install on a BestTech Apache C laptop.

Early in the installation process (before the check of the
installation media) the screen goes blank with some vertical lines and
installation stops.

Installing in text mode results in same problem.
Installing with nofb some times core dumps and some times the
installation media check dialog is opened, but there are a some error
messages before the dialog is opened.

The installation media (DVD) is ok.

FC2 installs without problems.
