I don't think my question is on the wrong list because:

    1. I'm using FC2, not FCE and...
    2. I'm getting KDE from the 'stable' section of the repository.
    3. The release of 3.4 was announced on kde.org on March 16, 2005, so 
there' nothing beta about KDE.
