IO slowdown with latest FC4 kernel

A lot of thanks to Gautam and Manuel

although, there are some strange outputs (see below), performance is now
as usaual :-)

hdparm -Tt /dev/sda1

/dev/sda1:
 Timing cached reads:   2860 MB in  2.00 seconds = 1429.91 MB/sec
HDIO_DRIVE_CMD(null) (wait for flush complete) failed: Inappropriate
ioctl for device
 Timing buffered disk reads:  112 MB in  3.01 seconds =  37.18 MB/sec
HDIO_DRIVE_CMD(null) (wait for flush complete) failed: Inappropriate
ioctl for device
