ipw2200 firmware not loaded

Hallo,
I'm using Fedora Core 4 on an IBM Thinkpad T42 with an ipw2200 abg card.
I have installed the firmware from livna. After loading the driver with
"modinfo ipw2200" the ieee80211and the ieee80211_crypt modules
are also loaded, but not the firmware. And the system is not even trying to
load it. "dmesg"  only shows the following lines:
 ieee80211_crypt: registered algorithm 'NULL'
ipw2200: Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2200/2915 Network Driver, 1.0.0
ipw2200: Copyright(c) 2003-2004 Intel Corporation

Nothing about the firmware and the files in /lib/firmware are not touched.
