It's not a concern anymore as it's a given, whenever there's a kernel
upgrade, modprobe.conf will have to be overwritten with a backup. I now
have a shell script that scp copies the backup to client boxes ;-)
Nothing unique here, all systems are PIIs 300 Mhz 384mb RAM & have plain
Creative SB-16 sound cards. I do find it odd, that this problem didn't
occur on any kernel upgrade prior to kernel-2.6.11-1.27_FC3.

I have Ultra DSL 3mbs & kernel updates take 3mins tops :-) The local
Telco here is laying fiber down through the neighborhoods of my CTO &
we'll be getting 30mbs speeds real soon :-)) Plus TV programing.
