sound problem

Baaah.
A couple of things.
Did the sound test (during first boot) fail? Did you hear anything?
If the sound test didn't fail, and yet there's no sound, open the sound
mixer (Either the KDE/Gnome one, or under console, type alsamixer) and
un-mute the master volume.
If the sound test itself failed, please post the machine configuration.
