Core 4 PowerPC install

Mac OS X, Core 4 dual-partitioned.
Downloaded PPC isos, burned to CDs.
Booted from first CD, install started. Hit Return for GUI install.
It started the text scroll installing and after about 90 seconds screen went
dark. I waited five minutes just in case it was still doing something, and
ultimately had to just force quick and reboot back to OS X. i.e. I did not
get through the first disk.

Yes, I have run checksum.
No, it was not the screensaver shutting down ;)

Any ideas?
