Will you recommend fedora to a newcomer?

Haven't you heard of yum?
I don't find "yum install foo" any more difficult 
than clicking on setup.exe .

Also, if it doesn't work I have some idea what to do in Linux.
If something doesn't work as advertised in Windows I am stuck.

In my view, Linux is _more_ user-friendly than Windows in a lot of ways,
and less user-friendly in others.
Eg I find some aspects of networking puzzling in Windows.

Fedora has a long way to go,
but I expect it to surpass Windows in most aspects sooner or later.

Windows is a long way from the ideal system you describe.
