Creating files

Hey mates,

Can anyone tell me of a method to create a file (empty, no extension) from
the shell? I usually use nano, vim or emacs and just save and empty buffer,
but is there some-other single line syntax to creating a file? something
like [mkdir DirName] in creating directories
