Video editing on Fedora/*nix is something I've been meaning to look
into for some time now.

One editing program out there is "Avidemux". I successfully
downloaded and compiled it (on FC5). Had to install a lot of devel
packages to get it to handle the many different formats out there.
Still trying it out, but it seems to be a (very) basic editor - cut,
paste, import/export, etc - but no star-wipes or special effects.

If anyone is interested, I built a RPM from the tarball but I must
*stress* the fact that this is the first RPM I have ever built from
source, and had to tweak the tarball to do so. Specifically, I
altered the .spec file and tarball name to correctly reflect the
version (avidemux2-2.1.2), and the configure script to provide
"/usr/include" for the default location for jsapi.h.

The RPM can be found here:
http://cr33.is-a-geek.com/rpms/avidemux2-2.1.2-7.i386.rpm

along with the src RPM and debug RPM here:
http://cr33.is-a-geek.com/rpms/

So, I guess this post has two purposes:
1 - Heikki: I hope this helps you out
2 - Would others check the RPM out and see if it's OK?

One thing about the RPM that I don't understand is the "-7" added to
"2.1.2" - if someone could shed light on that...?

I'm looking for something heavier than avidemux, but it does seem like
a nice, lightweight editor - useful for basic stuff.

Chris
