Keyboard keys not accessible

Hi all

I have Fedora Core 4 installed on my compaq nx9010 notebook with a Swiss
type keyboard.  I am now having some problems to access certain keys
for e.gi can't type the" ¦ " from console.  I have used loadkeys to
load default
keymap which set it back to US keyboard map.  I have then reloaded the Swiss
keyboard map with loadkeys -v fr_CH.  I'm back to the Swiss keyboard but I
can't still access the " ¦ " .  Thanks for help and suggestions?  I have
kbd-1.12-10.fc4.1 installed.  System installed 2.6.17-1.2412_FC4
