smart mkinitrd upgrade, kernel downgrade?

Are you sure you *have* the i686 kernel installed?  There's an FC6 
installer bug where it will install the i586 kernel (and kernel-devel) on 
some systems that should have the i686 kernel installed.  The workaround 
is to manually force-upgrade the kernel to the equivalent i686 version 
(uninstall and reinstall kernel-devel too) and reboot.
