Who asked for /misc anyway ?

I notice my logwatch contains the lines

    /misc       1 Time(s)

 failed to mount autofs path /net: 1 Time(s)
 failed to mount autofs path /misc: 1 Time(s)

 ---------------------- Automount End -------------------------

Why is autofs trying to mount these directories?
What would they be used for if he (or she) succeeded?
