Howto tell fc4 not to load mysql

Log in as root.
/sbin/chkconfig mysql off

When you fix the problem, do it again, with "on" instead of "off" to 
re-enable.

You can get mysql to rebuild its databases (back to virgin/blank 
condition), by nuking the contents of the mysql database directory 
(typically /var/lib/mysql).
