FC5 - Winbind fails to start

I am having a problem with Samba. My FC5 box can see my two Windoze 
PC's, but neither of them can see my FC5 box. One of the issues here may 
be winbind. When I restart Samba, the winbind service does not seem to 
start. service winbind status reports:-

winbindd dead but pid file exists

My firewall is setup to allow the four SMB ports (137.138,139 and 445).

What do I do to rectify this issue?
