FC5 doesn't find SMP motherboard

FC5 at boot reports:
 Checking 'hlt' instruction... OK.
 SMP alternatives: switching to UP code
 Freeing SMP alternatives: 16k freed
 CPU0: Intel Pentium Pro stepping 07
 SMP motherboard not detected.
 Brought up 1 CPUs

FC4 found both processors quite happily...

This is an old Compaq Proliant 2500 with 2 x 200MHz Pentium Pro
processors

Anything I can do to persuade FC5 to look harder?
