Cannot start X Server

Here's the complete error message:

"I cannot start X server (your graphical interface) it is likely that it is not set up correctly. Would you like to view the X server output the diagnose the problem?"

At the bottom of the message, YES and NO choices. From this screen, the server is hung up and not responding.

 
I can't check log file since the server is not responding to any of those YES/NO buttons.
