installing a src rpm is not the same as installing a 'normal' one.
 rpm -ivh  ftp-...src.rpm
will extract the files into
/usr/src/redhat/SOURCES
/usr/src/redhat/SPECS

but if you are planning on playing with and rebuilding the RPM to test
it, you should do this as a non-privileged user, *not* root.
