Take a look at /etc/inittab. You will see entries for tty1 through
tty6 You will want to add a line for ttyS0. You will want to run one
of the getty programs on that device. You will have to see what
version fits your needs best. In any case, look for the
"--autologin username" option for the version you decide to use.
