2.6.16-1.2111_FC5-smp-i686: compile error

Hei

Trying to compile this right out of the box gives compile error on first c file.
# make
......
  HOSTCC  scripts/kallsyms
  HOSTCC  scripts/pnmtologo
  HOSTCC  scripts/conmakehash
make[1]: *** No rule to make target `init/main.o', needed by `init/built-in.o'.  Stop.
make: *** [init] Error 2

Tried to make a distclean first and copied config from /boot, but to no help.

Even make distclean fails
# make distclean
scripts/Makefile.clean:17: /usr/src/kernels/2.6.16-1.2111_FC5-smp-i686/drivers/infiniband/ulp/srp/Makefile: No such file or directory

Someone with a clue to what I am doing wrong.
I am only wanting smbfs support in my kernel.
