Although if you ever need to do something like replace a disk,
you will need to figure out how to get grub installed (not too
hard from a rescue mode boot) as well as simply restoring all
the files from the rsynced copy.

Windows is always clobbering grub, so there are lots of web pages
about how to fix that, and pretty much the same technique
works when restoring a disk.
