Convert standard SATA to AHCI?

It should just work.

If it doesn't just work, you should be able to switch the BIOS back to
enhanced mode, and have your system boot as normal.

If you aren't happy with those two "should"s, take a good backup before
you start...

Actually, take a good backup anyway!
