FC5: loss of sound

I'm running FC5 on an x86, and my sound card is the
Creative SB Audigy (module snd-emu10k1). I've looked
the resources up and down, and can't find a solution
to this problem: my sound has stopped working. None
of the mixer levels (both input and output) are turned
off in kmix. I do remember turning the volume down a
while back, but I used a terminal interface whose name
I can't remember. Kmix should be a GUI interface
to the same thing, and I have turned the volume up
on the PC speakers. Thanks for any help you can provide.
