Hi Paul,

Yes sorry I retyped the command just for the email and messed it up.

Heres what I did do.

[root at d6173 alastair]# history | grep nodeps
  412 rpm -e --nodeps python-2.4.3-8.FC4
  503 history | grep nodeps
[root at d6173 alastair]# /usr/bin/python
Python 2.4.1 (#2, May 3 2005, 17:14:18)
[GCC 3.2.2 20030222 (Red Hat Linux 3.2.2-5)] on linux2

The python-2.4.3-8.FC4.i386.rpm would have no effect at all. "rpm -e"

[root at d6173 alastair]# /usr/bin/python
Python 2.4.1 (#2, May 3 2005, 17:14:18)
[GCC 3.2.2 20030222 (Red Hat Linux 3.2.2-5)] on linux2

Paul.

Best regards and thanks,

Alastair
