I had a similar problem when attempting to print from XP.  I can't find the 
message in question, but I solved it with help from Tim Waugh.  IIRC what I 
needed to do was create a raw print queue on the box with the server.  You 
don't use it directly, even though it is listed on the XP box, but something 
in that allows your print jobs to be interpreted correctly.

Sorry to be vague.  You may find details of the answer in the archives - it 
was several months ago.
