I guess running NOC's for years has taught me that you have backups for 
more than one reason. Typically each machine has a kernel source kernel 
install, the .config is copied into new ksource and re-made, not much can
go wrong.

I stopped using RH supplied kernels at around RH4, when a RH update of 
the kernel _did_ in fact break things... Since then I've rolled my own, 
and never had a single glitch, and I apply that rule not only to the fedora
desktops, but also to every server I manage (none of which run fedora/rh).
