You can handle CLASSPATH while you edit /etc/profile.d/java.sh in the
stanton-finley.net instructions. Add, e.g.:

# Make Java happy.
export CLASSPATH=/usr/share/tomcat5/bin/:/usr/bin:/usr/share/java/servletapi5.jar:/usr/share/java/log4j.jar:.
export JAVA_HOME=/usr
export CATALINA_HOME=/usr/share/tomcat5
export ANT_HOME=/usr/local/ant
export PATH=${PATH}:${ANT_HOME}/bin
export PATH=${PATH}:${JAVA_HOME}/bin # duplicate

Modify to suit, especially as the stanton-finley.net instructions have
you put the Sun JRE/JDK in a different place.

You may also want to look at http://jpackage.org/.
