Producing pdf files with copyable text

The only thing I could copy, or even search for, in that file using
Evince or XPDF was the text in the gadget:
  ssh your_fedora_username at fedorapeople.org

Using FC 4, 5, 6 & 7, plus CentOS 5.  Today, it's FC7.
