Err, whoops...  No, I actually used en_BR....  Trying again with en_GB
yields the same results though, so my reasoning is still valid :-).
And what do you know, en_XX even knows about "gauge"... looks like
aspell doesn't warn you in any way if you select a non-existent
language.  I guess it's hard to misspell a word in a non-existent
language.
