Strange sound phenomenon in Fedora Core 5.

I saw this before. The PCM of a card just become mute. The "alsamier"
command shows this clearly. What causes don't know. Here the alsa
version is 1.0.14. This system has two sound cards and both are in
use... so, could be something at this regards.
But, am just wondering...
