Hi All,
I have a rather strange problem at hand.
If I enable desktop effects then I keep getting the following warning
and eventually my system freezes and then there is nothing that I can
do, but a hard reboot.
*********************************WARN_ONCE*********************************
File radeon_mm.c function radeon_mm_alloc line 216
Ran out of GART memory (for 1048576)!
Please consider adjusting GARTSize option.
***************************************************************************
Now, if I try setting the GARTSize option in my xorg.conf:
Section "Device"
Identifier "Videocard0"
Driver "radeon"
Option "RenderAccel" "true"
Option "GARTSize" "128"
EndSection
, I keep seeing the following error in my log file:
(EE) RADEON(0): [pci] Out of memory (-12)
(EE) RADEON(0): [pci] PCI failed to initialize. Disabling the DRI.
And then compiz wouldn't kick in because of the lack of DRI.
Now, I know that I am to pity myself because I am using the ATI card,
but does anyone have a solution to this issue?
Secondly, in the message above, is the GARTSize to be specified in bits
/ bytes / kB / mB ?
thannks,
Rogue
