I work at a University with an internet2 connection (though I don't know
that it was used for that transfer). I seem to remember seeing speeds around
around 2.5MBytes/s being reported by lftp. The speed wasn't constant though.
Unfortunately, at home I have dialup. I cart a lot of CD-RWs back and forth.
