Whois and godaddy domains

When I use whois from Cygwin on my windows machine, it returns the full
set of contact information for my domain.  When I run whois from fedora,
it doesn't. It appears that the fedora version does not contact
whois.godaddy.com to get the additional information.  Is this controlled
by a config file somewhere?
