Oh, didn't you know?  Dell now offers a fire suppression system as an 
option.  However, you need to pop out the CD/DVD drive to install it.  They 
figured that you'd be next to your laptop when using the drive so you'd 
notice the smell and take appropriate action manually before anything 
serious happened.
