Problem accessing /proc/acpi

Hello list,

Since some time I'm experiencing some problems with access to
/proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/*

time cat /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/state takes 4 seconds and info takes
14 seconds.

I don't know what is the problem and I can not locate if one specific
_update_ broke my system.

The other files under /proc and /proc/acpi seem to be fine.

Any ideas/suggestions?

System: FC6 on AMD Athlon 64.
