Lost some user & program associations after upgrading to FC7.

Folks,

I upgraded from FC6 to FC7 and lost what I think of as associations
between users (both root and non-root users) and some applications.

After the upgrade some applications (e.g., Yum, Gparted, Users & Groups,
etc.) no longer work. When I attempt to start these programs I get a
"waiting" cursor but the programs never start.

I've done some research into this problem but I can't find anything that
helps. Any ideas on what may be causing this?
