discrepancy between qtparted/gparted and partition state in F8

If running qtparted or gparted, then these tools report that the ext3-partitions have not been
cleanly unmounted at last reboot. But when I reboot or unmount and run fsck, all partions are clean.

May it be that fsck and gparted/qtparted have more knowledge about the partitions than e2fsck has?
