You're comparing apples and oranges here. apt-get is not an alternative to RPM, 
it can actually be used with RPM too (see apt-rpm). What Ubuntu is using 
instead of RPM is dpkg, the Debian package manager. APT can be compared to YUM, 
not RPM.
