Well, you have decided to take a different approach and I no longer
understand what you are trying to accomplish.

I thought you did the following....

1.  Removed packages with reckless abandon.
2.  Realized that step #1 above broke X

And, your goal was to restore the ability to run a graphical desktop.  I
supplied you with the steps to do that...and you seem unhappy with the
procedure.

So I, for one, am out of suggestions.
