Need help with mPlayer

Did it pull in ffmpeg-libs as well Scott?

I'm using Freshrpms for extra stuff like Mplayer on Fedora 7, and see that I 
havn't installed it on Fedora 7 yet. I'm doing so at the moment, and will 
also install ffmpeg, which is supposed to work ok with DVD's. We shall see.

I've never used Mplayer with ffmpeg before, and have always, either installed 
w32codecs (which may only be available on my Debian installs), or downloaded 
the codecs package from.

There are instructions on the site. They need to end up in /usr/lib/codecs, so 
download them, unpack them, and as root copy them to /usr/lib/codecs.

Now I've got Mplayer installed from Freshrpms, and no ffmpeg installed, and 
the DVD (The Full Monty) starts to play. There's a problem with too many 
video packets in the buffer, but I think I've worked around that before. It 
results in stuttery sound. I don't appear to be able to workaround it on 
Fedora 7 though. I already have vlc installed on Fedora 7, and that plays 
DVD's with no problems whatsoever. You do need to install libdvdcss which 
handles problems with encrypted DVD's though.

Sorry I can't be more helpfull in getting Mplayer working on Fedora 7, but Vlc 
does play DVD's ok.  There are still though some commercial DVD's that are 
creating problems on Linux I believe.
