/tmp IS "drwxrwxrwt" and the funny thing is, the other files in
/ have various permission values, mostly drwxr-xr-x. I'm
starting to wonder if running the command "rpm -qa | xargs rpm
--setperms --setugids" and then stopping it reset many of the
permissions to what they should be but left some as 666.

When I try to log into my account (not root) now it says "no
directory /home/bruce but the directory IS there the permissions
on it are drwx------.
