I haven't read all this thread, but does iwconfig see the printer?
If so, you could add the WEP key 
to /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-<interface-name>
with a line like "KEY=12345678ab".

But it would seem easier to me to turn off WEP on the printer
until you have it working, if you can.
