Use kdesu instead, e.g.:
/usr/libexec/kde4/kdesu kwrite
If you install kdebase3, that includes a /bin/kdesu. Unfortunately, KDE 4 moved 
it out of the search path, IMHO this is unfortunate because it's a nice tool.
