Why does it take so long for new (gimp, kernels, openoffice) packages to reach the stable repo ?

Don't forget also that there may also be residual problems with the newest
versions - I am not sure that kernel 2.6.27 is entirely bug-free and
running sweetly... certainly for wireless at least...
