desperately seeking "IgnoreEDID"

is this bugzilla-able?  certainly, it seems counter-intuitive that,
when i specifically ask for "IgnoreEDID", it still has an effect.  so
either there's more to that option than meets the eye, or it just
plain doesn't do what it's supposed to.
