Alsa recognizes your sound card and it is in the default position.
This is good.  
The proper driver is loaded, also good.

aplay and arecord find it, a good sign.

I think the lines below are your problem.  You have digital output enabled.

Start alsamixer with the command

alsamixer -c 0

and use the arrow keys to move over to the IEC958 entries (the digital
output) and use 0 to disable them and the arrow keys to set the volumes
to zero as well.  This assumes you want analog output (to speakers or a
tuner, and not digital).

If there are no entries in alsamixer for these settings, use amixer to
change them (man amixer).
