Err, unless GMail is chewing your message, you've forgotten a lot of
dashes in that mkinitrd. It should be:
mkinitrd --preload=ehci-hcd --preload=usb-storage
--preload=scsi_mod --preload=sd_mod /boot/initrd_usb.img
2.6.17-1.2174_FC5
